FAQ

Q)What kind of weather should we expect when we come to Skagway, Alaska?

A) Skagway receives the least amount of precipitation of any coastal city in Alaska, about 29 inches per year.  That breaks down to about 25 inches of rain and about 40 inches of snow.  Skagway has a lot of cloudy, foggy, misty, and / or windy weather.  Temperatures during May range from 45 to 65 degrees, June from 55 to 70 degrees, July from 55 to 75 degrees, August from 55 to 70 degrees, and September from 45 to 65 degrees.

Q)When we come to Skagway how should we dress?

A) Everyone should dress in layers – excess clothing may be left in the vehicle until needed.  We strongly recommend that your outside layer be water proof.  As a rule of thumb, the air in the White Pass Summit area will feel about the same as it does next to your cruise ship.  (Tours that travel beyond the White Pass Summit area normally run into better weather.)

Q)Do I need a Passport to cross the U.S. / Canadian Border, or will a Birth Certificate do?

A) You must have a government issued and valid Passport to cross the border. You will be passing through at least 1 international customs station, please verify you are able to enter Canada, whether your country of residence needs a visa or if you have a criminal conviction in the United States. A lack of proper documentation can result in you being detained by either US Customs or Canadian Customs. Southeast Tours is not responsible or liable if you do not bring proper ID.
